Finding the right online poker room to play your games at is not an easy task, there are simply so many online poker sites that are fighting for your attention that it can be easy to be blinded by the offers of free money and big money bonuses, closing your vision to what the site truly has to offer you as a new player.
I have always been someone that has been more about what games a site has to offer me rather than the offer of bonus funds as I have been through the transition period of being all about the free poker funds to being more sighted about the real issues that need to be covered when choosing a site.
Many players seem to forget that poker bonus offers tend to have requirements that need to be reached in order to unlock any of the free money that the site is offering, so other elements such as the game selection and stake levels come into action sooner than the free money offers but human instinct seems to lead us all to seek money first, game choice later.
Thinking back to the time when I first started playing poker online, I had never really played in the live poker room atmosphere and so entered into the market with a novice willingness to follow the words and advice of poker room review sites, after all I thought that all the sites were my guide to success.
After failing to like the first three or four sites that I joined for different reasons, I soon found a site that was promoting the Everest Poker download, a site that I had heard about from a number of sites and one that did look of interest after finding out that they were new player friendly thanks to their home on the iPoker network.
Deciding that once again the site I was on just didn’t give me what I wanted, I clicked the poker download button and joined up to their site to find that it could well have been one of the best decisions that I had made since deciding that I wanted to play online poker.
The site was user friendly, the players that were awaiting my participation at the tables were of lower ability than those that were sitting at the PokerStars tables and the jackpot offers were enough to keep me interested in trying to win six small sit and go tournaments in a row, a nice little addition.
A couple of years on I have outgrown the iPoker network and have since returned to PokerStars and a couple of other online poker rooms to play my games but I have to admit that I am shocked at the lack of industry push that Everest Poker have tried to make.
They seem to be a quiet poker room that live off recommendations rather than trying to lock horns with the bigger sites through the organic search of the search engines and for me that means that the site will be overlooked by new players that are looking for a smooth start to their online play, shame.
